Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy governs your use of AWC Communications services, including hosted PBX, SIP trunking, and voice services.
Effective Date: March 22, 2026
1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of all services provided by AWC Communications Inc ("AWC"), including hosted PBX, SIP trunking, voice services, and related telecom services (collectively, the "Services").
This AUP is incorporated by reference into the AWC Master Services Agreement and all Service Appendices. AWC reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time. Continued use of the Services following any modification constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
2. General Conduct
Customer shall use the Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations. Customer is responsible for ensuring that all users of the Services under their account comply with this AUP.
3. Prohibited Uses
3.1 Illegal Activities
The Services may not be used for any activity that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to fraud, harassment, threats, or any other criminal offenses.
3.2 Unsolicited Communications
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Telemarketing or mass solicitation without proper consent as required under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
- Auto-dialing for unsolicited outreach
- Voicemail blasting
- Spamming via any communication channel provided by the Services
3.3 Call Center Operations
The Services are intended for standard business communications. Use of the Services for call center operations requires prior written approval from AWC.
3.4 Caller ID Manipulation
The following activities are prohibited:
- Displaying misleading caller ID information
- Spoofing caller ID to impersonate another individual or entity
- Circumventing call blocking or screening mechanisms
3.5 AI and Automated Calling
AI voice agents are permitted on AWC Services subject to the following conditions:
- AI agents must not claim to be human when directly asked about their nature
- AI agents must not impersonate specific real individuals
- AI agents must not deceive recipients about the nature of the communication
- All AI and automated calling must comply with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations
3.6 Network Abuse
The following activities are prohibited:
- Traffic pumping or artificially generating call traffic
- Continuous call forwarding designed to circumvent billing structures
- Monopolizing network resources beyond reasonable use
- Any activity that degrades network performance for other customers
3.7 Resale
Reselling of AWC Services is not permitted without express written consent from AWC, which shall be governed by a separate reseller agreement.
4. Fair Use
Unlimited calling plans are designed for normal business use. AWC may review accounts that exhibit any of the following patterns:
- Unusually high call volumes relative to the number of seats
- Significant deviations from normal usage patterns
- Automated dialing patterns
- Disproportionate inbound-to-outbound ratios or other metrics suggesting call center operations
AWC will contact the Customer before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is required to protect the network or other customers.
5. Security
Customer is responsible for maintaining the security of their account, including:
- Using strong, unique passwords for all accounts and devices
- Notifying AWC immediately upon discovery of any unauthorized use of their account
- Maintaining appropriate security measures on all equipment connected to the Services
- Cooperating with AWC in any investigation of suspected security breaches
Customer is responsible for all charges incurred on their account, including charges resulting from unauthorized access, unless such unauthorized access was caused solely by AWC's negligence.
6. Enforcement
6.1 Immediate Suspension
AWC may immediately suspend Services without prior notice if a violation:
- Threatens the integrity of the network
- Jeopardizes AWC's relationships with upstream carriers
- Exposes AWC to legal liability
- Involves illegal activity
6.2 Notice and Cure
For violations that do not require immediate suspension, AWC will provide notification to the Customer and a reasonable cure period to resolve the violation.
6.3 Continued Payment
Suspension or termination of Services due to an AUP violation does not relieve the Customer of payment obligations through the end of the Term, including any applicable early termination fees.
